Animal Rescue in The S.W

 

Just after midnight the Calgary Fire Department was called for a animal rescue in the 300 block of Oakfern Crescent S.W. On arrival, crews encountered a distressed pet owner who informed them that her cat had become trapped beneath a undermined concrete sidewalk. The owner reported the cat had been missing since tuesday and had heard the cats meows just prior to calling 911. After over an hour of excavation using shovels and other hand tools crews were able to extricate the cat that appeared in good health. The owner subsequently took the cat  to a veterinarian for a thorough assessment.
