maltese cross

As of 8:20pm this evening all of the remaining derailed cars have been safely up-righted and placed back on the rail track at Canadian Pacific's Alyth Yard in the city's southeast. The Calgary Fire Department is now in the process of decommissioning and redeploying its resources.

The Calgary Fire Department would like to thank those who worked around-the-clock to assist with the safe resolution of this incident. While there were many challenges encountered in addressing this situation there were no injuries and no product released. The safety of citizens, those working on-site, property and the environment were preserved.

Fifteenth Street between Blackfoot Trail and 9 Avenue S.E. will reopen shortly, once response apparatus is moved off site.

We would like to thank Calgarians – especially surrounding residents and businesses for their patience throughout this incident.
