afternoon fire destroys 2 homes in NW Calgary

At approximately 3:45 this afternoon the Calgary Fire Department was called to Panora Street NW for reports of a house fire.  Arriving fire crews found two neighboring homes fully engulfed in flames with intense heat and fire threatening nearby houses.  Firefighters called for additional resources while initially focusing on containing the fire.  Utilizing large volume hose lines firefighters were able to bring the fire under control while preventing fire spread to adjacent homes.  The two homes involved were significantly damaged and may be beyond repair. It appears that both homes were unoccupied at the time of the fire. There were no reports of injury.  Investigators are currently on scene.  Panora Street NW is currently inaccessible to traffic.
