The Youth Employment Centre’s Youth Hiring Fair returns March 28 to connect young people with employers

The City of Calgary’s Youth Employment Centre is hosting the 25th annual Youth Hiring Fair at the Big Four Building on Thursday, March 28, from 1:30 to 6 p.m.    This free event is the largest youth hiring fair in Calgary. Since 1999, over 1,900 employers have attended the Youth Employment Centre’s hiring fair, serving over 92,000 youth. The Youth Hiring Fair has historically hosted over 5,000 youth between the ages of 15-24 each year. This year’s fair will give young Calgarians the chance to meet with over 80 employers looking to hire immediately.

“As we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Youth Hiring Fair, we recognize the vital role it plays in connecting our city’s talented youth with high-quality employment opportunities,” says Mayor Gondek. “For 25 years, this event has been a catalyst of growth and opportunity for teens and young adults, providing them with a platform to meet employers and obtain meaningful employment.”  Youth can improve their chances of being hired by connecting with the Youth Employment Centre, located at 315 10th Ave. S.E., before the fair to prepare.

"The Youth Employment Centre has all sorts of free services and tools to help youth prepare for the fair," says Tara Huxley, Community Programs & Services Coordinator. "Come in ahead of time to speak with an employment expert and get help polishing your resume, draft a job search strategy, prepare for an interview and begin career planning."

If you can’t make it to the fair, the Youth Employment Centre offers free career services and connections to employers year-round for youth ages 15-24.
