The birds and the bees and the bugs?

We’ve all heard of the birds and the bees. But have you heard about the bugs?

Seems romance, wooing and swooning may not be exclusively human undertakings. This Valentine’s Day, The City’s foremost bug expert, Todd Reichardt, will be guiding diners through the fascinating world of insect coupling and, dare we say, romance. Spoiler alert, not all these relationships end well or last forever.

Reichardt, a.k.a. The Bug Guy, holds a M.Sc. in Medical Entomology and has been chatting about insects for more than 30 years. He will lead a light-hearted discussion about "insex" that is sure to have you laughing while learning about what safe and unsafe sex looks like to insects.

“Be ready to laugh, have some fun and learn some really amazing things about the world around us,” said Reichardt. “You might be surprised at what tips you’ll take home for the evening!”

Join us Feb. 14 at Devonian Gardens from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. for this entertaining presentation peeking into the fascinating and curious world of insects. Tickets include a complimentary beverage and a buffet dinner by "An Affair to Remember.” The menu includes roast beef, herb-roasted chicken, potatoes, vegetables, rice, salads, dinner rolls, assorted dessert squares and tarts with coffee and tea.

Tickets are $60 per person. To register call 403-268-3800 and register for course 48642, or visit Calgary.ca/devo

We’re sure the evening will have you buzzing.
