Seeking public assistance in Auburn Bay indecent acts

The Calgary Police Service is asking for the public’s help to identify a man in relation to four indecent acts that occurred in Auburn Bay last month.

Since the beginning of August, there have been four indecent acts committed in close proximity to the Auburn Shores Park in the community of Auburn Bay. Based on the suspect description from each incident, investigators believe that the same male offender is likely responsible for all four incidents.

The incidents are as follows:

  • On Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, at approximately 10:30 a.m., a woman was walking eastbound on Auburn Bay Boulevard near Auburn Bay Gate S.E., pushing her infant in a stroller when she observed a male run away from another female. The male ran towards her and stopped to ask her a question. As the male stopped in front of the woman’s stroller, he exposed himself and was observed to be masturbating. The woman contact police later that evening.
  • Later on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a woman was running by herself on Auburn Bay Boulevard near Auburn Bay Manor S.E., when a male ran up beside her and tapped her on the shoulder. When the woman turned, the male exposed himself and was seen to be masturbating. The woman ran home and contacted police.
  • On Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, between 10:30 p.m. and 10:50 p.m., six women were walking home along Auburn Bay Boulevard S.E., near Auburn Bay Gate S.E., when they were approached by a male. The male made some comments to the women and when the women turned around, they observed him masturbating. The male then fled the area, and the women called police.
  • On Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at approximately 9:05 p.m., two women were standing with their children outside of a residence, located in the 0 to 100 block of Auburn Bay Heights S.E., when they noticed an unknown male walk past them. The male then returned to their location and stood next to one of the children, at which time the women noticed the male masturbating. The women yelled at the man, who fled the area, and then called police.

Officers circulated the area following each incident, however were unable to locate the offender.

Investigators are also looking into the possibility that this male is connected to two other indecent acts that occurred in the same area in October and November 2016.

The male is described as black, 14 to 17 years old, and 5’5” to 5’7” tall, with a slim build. He has very short or closely-shaved black hair and was wearing dark sweatpants or track pants in all of the incidents.

Anyone who witnesses an indecent act is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.

Anyone with information about the identity of this male or about these incidents is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234, or Crime Stoppers anonymously using either of the following methods:
