Online services for businesses involved in property sales

Calgary – Businesses involved in property sales can now apply online for The City of Calgary’s Certificate of Compliance service, a common requirement set out by lending agencies or lawyers. Law firms, surveyors and even real-estate agents can now apply on calgary.ca/compliance, saving time and money by avoiding trips and line-ups at City Hall or by avoiding courier service costs.

“The City receives approximately 15,000 Certificate of Compliance requests each year, so enabling this service online will excite these business customers, while reducing line-ups at our counter,” says Mike Van Ham, Applications & Inquiries Coordinator with The City of Calgary. “We’re excited to bring another City service online for our business customers, which is just the beginning of improvements planned for this year,” notes Van Ham.

A Certificate of Compliance is an optional service provided by The City that satisfy lending agencies and lawyer needs when completing a home sale transaction. The certificate, along with a Real Property Report prepared by an Alberta land surveyor, confirm that the locations of structures on a property comply with the Land Use Bylaw.

Businesses can learn more about Certificate of Compliance service by visiting calgary.ca/compliance. A business myID account is required to apply online.

The City’s Planning & Development department continues to make it faster and easier for small business customers to start, renew or manage their business online. For more information about our service improvement plans, visit calgary.ca/pdimprovements.
