ASIRT Decision - March 21, 2015 officer-involved shooting

We appreciate the efforts of the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team to do a thorough and impartial investigation into the officer involved-shooting that took place on March 21, 2015.

The officer involved in this shooting has and will continue to receive the full support of the Calgary Police Service.

An internal administrative review of this incident will take place, as is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings. At this time there is no evidence to indicate any breaches of policy or procedure by the member involved and he is not facing any internal discipline.

The Calgary Police Service continues to review best practices in training and procedures.

The man involved in this incident will not be charged. In consultation with the Crown, it has been deemed not to be in the public’s interest.

The Calgary Police Service would like to thank all of the members of public who participated in this investigation.
