At approximately 12:15 p.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016, a man entered an M&M Meat Shop located in the 200 block of Shawville Boulevard S.E. He selected an item from the freezer and approached the till. He spoke to the clerk asking her to step aside. He went around the corner to the till, while holding a silver switch-blade knife in his right hand. The clerk opened the cash register and the man removed the cash, placing it in his pocket before exiting the shop.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., on Sunday, Aug. 21. 2016, a man entered the M&M Meat Shop located in the 8000 block of Centre Street N.E.
