Man charged with sexual assault in Parkhill incident

Following an investigation by the Calgary Police Service Sex Crimes Unit, a man has been charged with sexual assault in relation to an incident that occurred last week at a residence in Parkhill.

Shortly after 5:30 a.m., on Friday, Dec. 8, 2017, police were called to a residence in the 200 block of 42 Avenue S.W., after two young women left the home and reported they had been held against their will. The Tactical Unit was called to assist with the removal of three people from within the residence.

At approximately 11 a.m., the suspect exited the residence and was arrested. The other people were taken in for questioning but were later released without charges.

The investigation has determined that the two young women arrived at the home in the early morning hours of Friday, Dec. 8, to meet an acquaintance. A short time later, one of the occupants of the home allegedly sexually assaulted one of the women.

James ETIENNE, 22, of Quebec, is charged with one count of sexual assault.
