Calgary Fire Department Responds to House Fire in Citadel

Calgary Fire Department Responds to House Fire in Citadel

At approximately 9:40 this morning, the Calgary Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 100 block of Citadel Estates Terrace N.W. Fire crews were met with visible smoke from the second floor of the single family home on arrival. High capacity fans were used to pressurize the house prior to firefighter entry. Additional resources were called as precaution until the fire was called under control. The fire was reported to 911 by bystanders while three of the five occupants who were home at the time self-evacuated prior to Calgary Fire arrival. All three occupants were examined by Alberta Health Services on scene, but required no treatment. There was not damage to the houses on each side of the source home. ATCO gas and ENMAX were also on scene to check the gas and power supply to the building. Fire crews remain at the incident checking for fire extension and hot spots. The investigation into the fire is now underway with the cause yet to be determined.

The Calgary Fire Department would like to remind citizens that functioning smoke alarms can help save lives.
