Witnesses and dashcam footage sought in northeast distraction theft
Investigators are seeking witnesses and dashcam footage in a distraction theft that occurred in the northeast community of Sunridge earlier this month.
At around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, a man was in his vehicle in the parking of PartSource, located at 3182 32 Street N.E., when it is believed he was approached by an unknown man and woman. The unknown man knocked on the victim’s window, which caused him to unlock the vehicle. Upon doing so, the woman entered the passenger door and immediately placed a fake gold necklace on the victim. The victim protested and told her to leave. She then removed the victim’s real gold necklace, valued at $10,000, and exited the vehicle. After leaving the area, the victim realized his necklace was missing and reported the incident to police.
CCTV footage from the area has been collected in hopes of furthering the investigation. Investigators are also asking anyone who was in the area that witnessed this incident, or who has dashcam footage of the area between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. on the day of the incident to come forward, as the information may provide additional details on the suspects.
There is only a description available for the woman suspect. She is described as approximately 30 to 35 years old with light-brown hair. At the time of the incident, she was wearing a long black dress and carrying a grey purse.
