Victim of fatal Forest Lawn shooting identified

The victim of the fatal shooting that occurred in the southeast community of Forest Lawn this morning has now been identified.

An autopsy was completed today, Friday, June 23, 2023, by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, which confirmed the identity of the victim as Jeremy Burton JIMMY, 44.

At this time, the shooting is not believed to be random. This is Calgary’s ninth homicide of 2023.

Investigators continue to gather CCTV footage and information from witnesses.

“This investigation remains in the early stages, and we are looking to speak with all potential witnesses or anyone who may have had recent contact with Jeremy,” said Staff Sgt. Sean Gregson of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit.  “Even something that may seem insignificant can be instrumental in helping us advance this investigation.”
