Update: Suspicious death investigation in Crescent Heights

On Friday, June 7, 2024, an autopsy was completed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in relation to the suspicious death in Crescent Heights.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, June 6, 2024, we were called to a residence in the 900 block of First Street N.W., for reports of an altercation. Upon arrival, officers located a man inside the residence in medical distress. Despite the efforts of EMS, the victim sadly succumbed to his injuries. At the time of the incident, police took one man into custody, but he has since been released without charge.

At this time, the autopsy results remain undetermined for both the cause and manner of death. As such, the man’s identity will not be publicly released.

The circumstances around the victim’s death are still considered suspicious and our Homicide Unit continues to investigate.
