Suspicious death investigation in Crescent Heights

Our Homicide Unit is on scene investigating after one person has been declared deceased following a suspicious death in Crescent Heights.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., today, Thursday, June 6, 2024, we were called to a residence in the 900 block of First Street N.W., for reports of an altercation. Upon arrival, officers located a man inside the residence in medical destress. Despite the efforts of EMS, the victim sadly succumbed to his injuries.

One man has been taken into custody for questioning related to this event. It is believed the victim and suspect are known to each other. Investigators are actively working to determine the circumstances that led up to this incident.

An autopsy will be conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Friday, June 7, 2024. Until the completion of the autopsy, no further information will be released.
