Update: Suspicious death in Legacy

We have charged a man with second-degree murder in connection to the suspicious death that occurred in Legacy. 

Investigators believe an altercation involving a weapon ensued between two men inside a residence in the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 11, 2025, and one man was fatally assaulted.

Following an autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, the victim has been identified as Teofil BEL, 63, who is believed to not be from the Calgary area.

Stefan Simion BEL, 37, of Calgary is charged with one count of second-degree murder. He will next appear in court on Friday, March 14, 2025.

This is Calgary’s fourth homicide of 2025.
