Update: Police seek public assistance in Nose Creek Pathway assault

We continue to seek public assistance in relation to an assault that occurred earlier this week.

At approximately 4 a.m., on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, we were called to the Nose Creek Pathway located near the 1100 block of 32 Avenue N.E., for reports that a passerby had located a woman who was believed to be in medical distress.

The victim was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition. She has since succumbed to her injuries.

The identity of the victim can now be released as 23-year-old Jelisa MASCHKI of Calgary. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024.

Investigators are looking to speak with anyone who has information or who was in contact with Jelisa in the hours or days prior to her death.

“We still have many questions surrounding Jelisa’s activity leading up to her discovery,” says Staff Sgt. Sean Gregson of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit. “We are hoping to gain answers following the autopsy, which may shed some light on the injuries she sustained and what caused her death. We are looking for any information from friends, or people who may have had contact with Jelisa on the night of Sunday, Dec. 8, or the morning of Monday, Dec. 9, 2024.”

Anyone who believes they saw any suspicious activity along the Nose Creek Pathway in the early morning hours on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, or who was in recent contact with Jelisa is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234.
