Police seek public assistance in Nose Creek Pathway assault

We are asking for the public’s help to gather information in relation to a serious assault that occurred yesterday when a woman was located in life-threatening condition on a city pathway.

At approximately 4 a.m., on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, we were called to the Nose Creek Pathway located near the 1100 block of 32 Avenue N.E., for reports that a passerby had located a woman who was believed to be in medical distress.

She was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition, where she remains on life support. Evidence led police to believe the victim was assaulted and given the seriousness of the victim’s injuries at the time she was located, our Homicide Unit is investigating.

Investigators are now looking to speak to anyone who has information or who was in contact with the victim in the hours or days prior to the assault. We are sharing a CCTV image of the victim, from Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024, in hopes that someone with information will recognize her, or her clothing, and come forward.

“We are looking to speak to anyone who the victim had communication with prior to this incident,” says Staff Sgt. Sean Gregson of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit. “Any piece of information big or small may have a significant impact on this investigation. We are committed to following all leads to help provide answers to the victim’s family and loved ones.”

As part of the early stages of the investigation, officers had several areas of the Nose Creek Pathway blocked off and were looking to determine if the scenes were related. At this time, the connection remains undetermined.

Anyone who believes they saw any suspicious activity along the Nose Creek Pathway in the early morning hours on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024, or who was in recent contact with the victim is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234.
