Update: Police search for suspect in several cannabis store robberies

Police have identified, located and charged a man following numerous commercial robberies that occurred in the last several months across the city.  

In September 2024, police requested assistance from the public to locate a man who was believed to be responsible for seven robberies that occurred at cannabis and liquor stores over the summer. The man has since been identified following an additional robbery that took place in October.

On Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2024, at approximately 1 a.m., a man entered the Circle K convenience store located at 1919 Sirocco Dr. S.W. Once inside, the man brandished a firearm and demanded food and cigarettes from the store.

Shortly after he fled with several stolen items, officers located the man nearby and arrested him.

During the investigation it was determined the man was also believed to be responsible for a string of robberies that occurred over the summer.  

As a result, we have charged 39-year-old Collin Kizza MUKASA with:

·       One count of robbery

·       Five counts of robbery with a firearm

·       Four counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

·       Four counts of failure to comply with a release order

·       Eight counts of breach of a firearm prohibition

MUKASA remains in custody and will next appear in court on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024.
