Update: Police investigate fatal stabbing in Bowness

We have charged one man with second-degree murder in relation to a fatal stabbing that occurred yesterday in the northwest community of Bowness.

At approximately 3:25 a.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023, we responded to reports of a disturbance at a residence in the 7700 block of 41st Avenue N.W.

Upon arrival, officers located one man who appeared to have stab wounds. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators have determined the victim was killed during an altercation at the residence. Two men were taken into custody at the scene. It is now believed one of the men was a witness and was not involved in the altercation.

Dennis George HART, 52, of Calgary, has been charged with second-degree murder in relation to the incident. He will next appear in court on Friday, Sept. 15, 2023.

An autopsy is scheduled for 8:30 a.m., today, Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2023.
