UPDATE: Marlborough suspicious death deemed homicide

A man has been charged in relation to a homicide that occurred in Marlborough last weekend.

An autopsy identified the victim as Jason DIRKS, 46, of Calgary.

Investigators believe a disturbance occurred in the residence that escalated to a violent encounter, resulting in the victim’s death. It is believed that the victim and the accused knew each other. The nature of the victim’s injuries and potential motive will not be released pending court proceedings.

Shane Robin BAUM, 41, of Calgary, has been charged with second-degree murder. He will next appear in court on Monday, June 18, 2018.
