UPDATE: Homicide investigation in Penbrooke Meadows

Following a weekend shooting that left one man dead, an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020, to formally identify the victim, a man in his 20s.

The person who was taken into custody, a man in his 40s, has been released without charges at this time.

Police can confirm this is believed to be a domestic-related incident. Out of respect for the privacy of the family, no further information will be released until the autopsy can be completed and it can be determined if charges will be laid.

Homicide investigation in Penbrooke Meadows

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit has been called to investigate a suspicious death in Penbrooke Meadows.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020, police were called to a home in the 500 block of Penworth Way S.E., for reports of a shooting within the home that left a person in critical, life-threatening condition. The victim was declared deceased a short time later.

One man was taken into custody at the scene. This is not a random incident, the people involved are known to each other. No further information is available at this time.
