Update #5 - Police Investigate Fatal Shooting in Forest Lawn

A man previously wanted on warrants in connection to the fatal Christmas day shooting of Samuel WELDAY HAILE has been taken into custody.

On Monday, June 26, 2023, Yosief HAGOS, 23, of Calgary, was taken into custody on a warrant for second-degree murder.

HAGOS will next appear in court on Thursday, June 29, 2023.

“Since this murder occurred, we continuously followed up on HAGOS’ associates and worked with partner agencies to track his whereabouts,” states Staff Sergeant Sean Gregson of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit. “I’m grateful that we’re able to help bring closure to the victim’s family.”
