UPDATE #4 – Police investigate fatal shooting in Forest Lawn

Following an arrest earlier this year, a second man has been arrested in relation to the fatal Christmas day shooting of Samuel WELDAY HAILE.

On Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023, investigators arrested a man in Edmonton. Because this is an ongoing investigation, the identity of the man will not be made public.

We continue our efforts to locate Yosief HAGOS, 22, who is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for second-degree murder in relation to the death of WELDAY HAILE. HAGOS was last seen in Red Deer on Dec. 25, 2022, and it is believed he may have been transported to Edmonton.

HAGOS is described as 5’11” tall, approximately 140 pounds with a slim build.

We continue to follow up on all investigative leads and tips from the public in relation to this homicide. Members of the public, in both Red Deer and Edmonton, may have information related to the whereabouts of HAGOS, and we want to work with them to locate him. However, if anyone is attempting to assist HAGOS in evading police, we are equally committed to holding them responsible. 

We ask members of the public to exercise caution if you believe you see or know the suspect, as he is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. All sightings should be reported by calling 9-1-1.
