Update #2: Police investigate suspicious death in South Airways
We continue to investigate the homicide of 19-year-old Jordan LEINEN and are asking anyone with information to come forward to police.
We are also looking to speak to the drivers of three vehicles who were in close proximity to the victim’s vehicle shortly following the shooting, as we believe they may have important information that could further the investigation.
Previously it was believed the incident occurred at approximately 5:20 p.m., but following new evidence being uncovered, investigators now believe the fatal shooting occurred between 5:45 p.m. and 5:50 p.m., on Saturday, July 20, 2024, on the northbound offramp from Deerfoot Trail N.E. to 32 Avenue N.E. It is then believed the victim’s vehicle, a white 2008 Acura MDX, turned onto westbound 32 Avenue N.E., where the driver continued to the Foothills Medical Centre.
We are looking for dashcam footage from the 32 Avenue N.E. and Deerfoot Trail N.E. interchange, and looking to speak to drivers who were in the area at the time of the incident. If you were travelling near the interchange on the following roads at the time of the incident, please contact police.
- The northbound offramp from Deerfoot Trail N.E. to 32 Avenue N.E.
- Eastbound and westbound 32 Avenue N.E. approaching and crossing the bridge over Deerfoot Trail N.E.
- The southbound offramp from 32 Avenue N.E. to Deerfoot Trail N.E.
- Southbound Deerfoot Trail N.E. approaching and near the 32 Avenue N.E. exit
We are also looking to speak to the drivers of a black four-door sedan, a white pickup truck, and a white SUV who were in proximity to the victim’s Acura MDX shortly after the shooting, as we believe they may important information that could further the investigation.
