Update #2 – Crescent Heights homicide

We continue to investigate a homicide that occurred in Crescent Heights and are asking for information from the public regarding a vehicle believed to have been used in the shooting.

On Friday, April 1, 2022, at approximately 8:30 p.m., unknown offenders fired multiple rounds of gunfire into a parked vehicle located in an alleyway near 301 16 Avenue N.W. It is believed the offender(s) then fled the scene in a vehicle headed eastbound on 16 Avenue N., towards Edmonton Trail N.E. The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was declared deceased by emergency responders a short time later.

Investigators now believe that the offender(s) were travelling in a white 2011 GMC Sierra truck that had been stolen from a residence in Priddis some time between 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30 and 4 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, and then abandoned some time following the shooting on Friday, April 1. The truck has since been recovered.

“We are asking anyone who may have seen a vehicle matching the description of a white 2011 GMC Sierra truck that appeared to be engaged in suspicious activity between March 30 and April 1, to contact police or Crime Stoppers,” said Staff Sergeant Martin Schiavetta of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit.

Images of the truck are available on The City of Calgary Newsroom.

In addition, anyone who may have dashcam footage from either eastbound or westbound 16 Avenue N., between 10 Street N.W. and Deerfoot Trail N.E., between 8 and 9 p.m. on Friday, April 1, or any other information about this homicide, is asked to contact the police non-emergency number at 403-266-1234.
