Update 1: Police investigate fatal hit-and-run collision in Horizon

Our Traffic Section continues to investigate a fatal hit-and-run collision that resulted in the death of a woman earlier this month.

In addition to our plea to the public to help identify a dark-coloured 2008 to 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan, we are now asking for the public’s help to identify a man believed to be responsible for the incident.

At approximately 1:25 a.m., Friday, July 21, 2023, it is believed a woman was walking northbound in the 3800 block of 34 Street N.E., when she was struck and killed by a vehicle.

The vehicle, believed to be a dark-coloured 2008 to 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan, did not remain at the scene. It is believed the vehicle fled northbound towards 39 Avenue N.E., and originally turned east, before turning around and travelling west.

Investigators are still looking for the vehicle, which will have noticeable front-end damage as a result of the collision.

Investigators are also looking identify a man described as approximately 5’9” tall, 190 pounds, with a medium build and dark hair.
