UPDATE - Police investigate fatal shooting in Douglasdale

A vehicle believed to be connected to the fatal shooting that occurred this morning in Douglasdale has been located in Foothills County.

At approximately 9:40 a.m., today, Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022, Okotoks and Foothills emergency services responded to reports of a vehicle fire in the 6400 block of 296 Avenue E. Upon arrival, Okotoks RCMP officers located a burnt-out SUV matching the description of a vehicle believed to be connected to the fatal shooting that occurred earlier today in Calgary.

The Okotoks RCMP promptly contacted our investigators, and our Arson Unit and HAWCS were engaged.

We continue to investigate the scene of the fatal shooting in Calgary and burnt-out SUV in Foothills County.

Currently, no suspects are in custody.

An autopsy is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 16, 2022, at 9 a.m.

More information related to the homicide will be released as our investigation progresses.

Investigators are seeking dashcam footage from the Douglas Ridge S.E. area of Calgary today, Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022, between the hours of 7 – 9 a.m. and the 296 Avenue E area of Foothills County between the hours of 8:45 - 9:40 a.m.
