Two men charged with orchestrating a September 2023 shooting

Our Organized Crime and Offender Management (OCOM) Section has charged two men with conspiracy to commit murder in relation to a brazen shooting that occurred last year.

At approximately 2:45 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2023, a driver called police to report a shooting involving two vehicles that occurred on westbound Glenmore Trail, near 37 Street S.W. Both vehicles fled the scene prior to police arrival and no injuries were reported.

Approximately 30 minutes later, police were called to a residence located in the 100 block of Seton Passage S.E., for reports a man had been shot while parking his vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located one man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to hospital in serious condition. It is believed the suspect fired multiple rounds during the shooting in Seton, with stray bullets striking four surrounding residences, before fleeing the scene in a stolen vehicle.

Both shootings had targeted the same victim and were believed to be connected to organized crime conflict in Calgary. On Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023, one man was arrested and charged.

Despite these charges, our investigators remained committed to determining if anyone else was involved in the shootings. Due to the level of violence displayed, multiple investigative strategies were used, and a significant number of resources were dedicated to this investigation.

As a result, two men are now facing charges for their involvement in the shooting that occurred on Glenmore Trail, as well as their involvement in planning the shooting that occurred in Seton.

Masood MOHAMMAD, 30, of Calgary, has been charged with attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder. MOHAMMAD will next appear in court on Monday, Oct. 7, 2024.

Harliv Singh CHEEMA, 20, of Calgary, has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and accessory after the fact to an indictable offence. CHEEMA will next appear in court on Monday, Oct. 7, 2024.

Roland Stewart of the OCOM Section. “This investigation is a direct example of the dedication and tenacity of our organized crime investigators, who spend months collecting evidence to progress an investigation despite unco-operative victims and attempts to evade police.”
