The City of Calgary sends condolences on the passing of His Late Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

The City of Calgary is deeply saddened by the passing of His Late Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

As Calgarians mourn his passing, we also celebrate his dedication and service to the people of the United Kingdom, Canada, and the Commonwealth.

“I extend my deepest condolences to His Royal Highness’s family. Our city was honoured to have hosted His late Royal Highness a number of times, where he embraced our culture, spirit, and character,” said Mayor Naheed Nenshi. “The history of our city is made more robust for his presence, and it’s remarkable to think of the changes that took place between his first visit in 1951 and his final visit in 2005. Throughout that time, His late Royal Highness remained a consistent and powerful symbol of the connection we in the Commonwealth share.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Royal Family during this difficult time. City of Calgary flags will be flown at half-mast in memory of His Late Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
