Suspect vehicle sought in Sunalta homicide

Our Homicide Unit continues to investigate a fatal shooting that took place in Sunalta earlier this year.

At approximately 3:20 p.m., on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022, we were called to the 1200 block of 17 Street S.W., for reports that a man had been shot. Upon arrival, officers located a man in a back alley suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite officers and paramedics performing life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased on scene, and identified as Eric RIENDEAU. It is believed that RIENDEAU was targeted.

Investigators are now releasing images of a suspect vehicle described as a small black Ford Escape SUV, which is believed to have frequented the Sunalta area.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect vehicle, or who has vehicle dashcam footage of the Sunalta community on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022, between 2:30 and 3:45 p.m., is asked to call the non-emergency line 403-266-1234, or the homicide tip line at 403-428-8877.
