Suspect in downtown sexual assault identified and charged

Thanks to several tips from the public, we have now identified, arrested and charged a man in relation to a sexual assault that took place earlier this month.

On Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at approximately 11:15 p.m., the victim was in the process of renting an e-scooter at the Eighth Street S.W. CTrain station, located at 901C Seventh Ave. S.W., when an unknown man grabbed her from behind and proceeded to touch her in a sexual manner without consent.

As a result, we have now charged 23-year-old Perjot SIDHU, with one count of sexual assault.

He will next appear in court on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.
