Stolen tools recovered, and two men charged following breach-related investigation
We have laid more than 25 theft and breach-related charges against two men and recovered more than $25,000 in stolen property.
In the summer of 2024, a man being monitored by our Prolific Offender Engagement Team (POET) was released with court-imposed conditions on more than one occasion. As part of POET’s mandate, following his release, officers conducted checks to confirm he was abiding by these conditions.
In February 2025, the man was believed to have breached his release conditions and re-engaged in criminal activity. POET began investigating and gathered additional evidence.
At approximately 2:50 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025, the District 8 Operations Team (DOT) observed the man driving a Jeep Grande Cherokee SUV along with a male passenger in the Foothills Industrial Area, contrary to his court-imposed conditions.
The SUV was later seen driving in tandem with a Chevrolet Astro van and stopping at a shopping plaza in the 100 block of 94th Avenue S.E. Patrol officers observed the passenger of the Jeep, who had exited the vehicle, engaging in suspicious activity. He was subsequently arrested for outstanding warrants. At this time, the Jeep drove away at a high rate of speed.
Shortly after, the man driving the Jeep abandoned the vehicle and fled as a passenger in the van that had caught up to him after the incident at the shopping plaza. While assessing the SUV, officers learned the licence plate was reported stolen from a vehicle in Canmore on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, and the Jeep was reported stolen from the community of Cranston on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025. The Jeep contained property that has been confirmed stolen since its recovery.
At approximately 5:30 p.m. officers conducted a traffic stop on the van in the 500 block of 52nd Avenue S.W. The man who had abandoned the Jeep was subsequently arrested for possession of stolen property and breach of release conditions. Officers seized the van for further investigation as it contained several items believed to be stolen.
Upon further investigation, the man was positively identified as the suspect in a commercial break-and-enter that occurred in Calgary on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2025. Investigators also believe he was in possession of tools stolen during a break-and-enter at a construction site in Canmore. These tools were found to have been pawned by the man who had been travelling with him as a passenger in the Jeep. Officers were able to recover the stolen property from the pawn shops based on serial numbers and identifiable markings reported by the victim. The recovered tools were handed over to the Canmore RCMP to return to the owner, and we are working with them to support their investigation into the break-and-enter.
Following a search of both vehicles and recovery of the tools that had been pawned, approximately $25,000 in stolen property was recovered.
In connection to the Calgary incidents, Bradley Dale LEBSACK, 53, is charged with:
- One count of break and enter
- Twenty-three counts of failing to comply with a release order
- One count of possession of stolen property over $5,000
- One count of possession of stolen property under $5,000
- One count of driving while prohibited
LEBSACK is currently remanded and will next appear in court on Friday, March 7, 2025.
Chevan Mitchell WILSON, 45, is charged with one count of trafficking stolen property over $5,000.
WILSON failed to appear in court and is now wanted on warrants.
