Speed considered to be factor in serious-injury motorcycle collision

Our Traffic Unit continues to investigate after a man was left with life-altering injuries resulting from a motorcycle collision that occurred yesterday in the southeast community of Franklin.

At approximately 7:10 p.m., on Sunday, July 14, 2024, a sport-style motorcycle, operated by a 25-year-old man, was travelling east along Memorial Drive, near 36 Street N.E.

At the time, it is believed the rider struck the north curb, causing the motorcycle to slide into the grass median area before striking a large tree and coming to a rest. The rider was separated from the motorcycle and struck the base of a road sign.

The rider was transported to hospital in serious condition.

Speed is being investigated as a factor in this collision. Drugs and alcohol are not considered to be factors.
