Seeking public assistance - Suspect responsible for commercial robberies

The Calgary Police Service continues to search for a suspect in relation to commercial robberies in the city.

Two incidents involving M&M Meat Shop locations were described in a release on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016.

The suspect matches the description in four other incidents that took place at a convenience store and pet stores around the city.

On Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016, the suspect was in the Highland Convenience Store located in the 100 bock of 40 Avenue N.W. Earlier in the month the suspect was in Tail Blazers pet store, located in the 15,000 block of McIvor Boulevard S.E., on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, Pet Planet located in the 10,000 block of Elbow Drive S.W., on Friday, Aug. 12, 2016 and Global Pet Foods located in the 200 block of Shawville Boulevard S.E., on Thursday Aug. 11, 2016. On Sunday, June 12, 2016, the suspect was in PetSmart located in the 300 block of 61 Avenue S.W.

In each of these incidents the suspect approaches the clerk with an item from the store and when he reaches the till he tells the clerk to hand over the money in the till. He produces a small knife, switch-blade or in one case, a machete.

While speaking to the clerk, in each robbery the suspect apologizes the entire duration of the robbery. He utters words such as “I am sorry, I don’t want to hurt anyone.”

The suspect is described as Caucasian with a pale complexion, between 27 to 32-years-old. He is believed to be about 5’10” tall, skinny, with dark curly hair, and a small stubble. He was wearing prescription glasses, dark-blue jeans and a hoodie-style sweater.
