Search for evidence continues - Downtown attacks

We continue to investigate a series of random attacks that occurred last week and are asking for the public’s help to locate potential evidence.

In the early morning hours of Friday, Oct. 15, 2021, police were called for reports of multiple violent assault incidents in the downtown area. Two victims related to these attacks, one found at 4 Street CTrain Station and one found at 6 Avenue and 1 Street S.W., remain in hospital.

We continue to engage in extensive searches related to this investigation and are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a white and blue Toronto Maple Leafs hockey jersey with the name BELFOUR and the number 20 on the back. A stock photo of a similar jersey can be found on The City of Calgary Newsroom.

Anyone who may have seen an individual in the downtown area wearing a similar jersey on the day of the attacks, or who may have come across a similar jersey discarded in the downtown area, is asked to please contact police.

Conner DERY, 25, of Calgary, has been charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of carrying a concealed weapon. These charges are in relation to the victim found at the 4 Street CTrain Station. The accused remains in custody and will next appear in court on Tuesday, Oct. 26.

“We continue to exhaust all investigative avenues related to these attacks and recognize the gravity of these events,” said District 1 Staff Sergeant Kurt Jacobs. “We are thankful to the public for their assistance with helping us piece together what happened.”

Anyone with information about these attacks is asked to call the police non-emergency line at 403-266-1234. Tips can also be left anonymously through Crime Stoppers using any of the following methods:
