Quadruple homicide nears one-year anniversary; investigation ongoing

The Calgary Police Service continues to investigate a quadruple homicide that occurred nearly one year ago.

On Monday, July 10, 2017, Glynnis FOX, 36, Cody PFEIFFER, 25, and Tiffany EAR, 39, were found deceased in a burnt-out vehicle in the northwest community of Sage Hill. Hanock AFOWERK, 26, was found deceased near Highway 22 and Highway 8, west of Calgary, on Wednesday, July 12, 2017.

On Wednesday, October 11, 2017, Calgary police charged Yu Chieh LIAO, 24, who goes by Diana LIAO, and Tewodros Mutugeta KEBEDE, 25. Both face charges of first-degree murder in connection with the homicide of AFOWERK as well as three counts each of accessory after the fact (murder) in the deaths of FOX, PFEIFFER and EAR. They are awaiting trial.

Investigators continue to work with police agencies across the country and remain confident that additional people were involved in the homicides.

Police are asking for information to help identify anyone using a Saskatchewan-based cell phone number 306-381-2088 between Sunday, July 9, and Monday, July 10, 2017. The phone number was disconnected shortly after the homicides and checks on the subscriber’s information comes back to a fictitious person.

Investigators are also seeking public assistance to identify an individual who goes by the nickname ‘Bleezy.’
