Police seek to identify man after public assault on a child

Update: The man has been identified and located. Charges are pending. More information will be shared as the investigation progresses.

We are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who is believed to be responsible for an assault on a child in the city’s northeast.

At approximately 8:15 p.m., on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, we were called to Prairie Winds Park located at 223 Castleridge Boulevard N.E., for reports of a physical altercation between a man and a 12-year-old girl.

It is believed the man verbally confronted the victim after an interaction at the playground between his young son and the victim. The verbal altercation escalated, and the man struck the victim.

The victim was assessed by EMS and was determined to have minor injuries. She was transported home by attending officers.

After exhausting all investigative avenues to identify the suspect, we are now asking for help from the public.
