Police seek information from fatal collision witnesses

Our Traffic Unit continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision that occurred on Stoney Trail S.W. last month.

At approximately 6:17 p.m., Sunday, June 29, 2025, on Stoney Trail S.W., south of the Bow Trail interchange, a collision occurred between two vehicles, resulting in the death of a 25-year-old man.

At the time, it is believed a 2001 Toyota 4Runner, operated by a 25-year-old man, was travelling south on Stoney Trail S.W., when the Toyota left the roadway, crossed the grass median, and entered into the northbound lanes of Stoney Trail. The vehicle rolled before being struck by a 2008 Dodge Caliber, operated by a 25-year-old woman, who was travelling north on Stoney Trail.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the Toyota was ejected from the vehicle and struck a large overhead directional sign, sustaining fatal injuries.

Police are looking to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the collision, specifically the drivers of two light-coloured SUVs and one dark-coloured SUV. It is believed the SUVs witnessed the Toyota 4Runner crossing the median from southbound Stoney Trail S.W. into the northbound lanes of Stoney Trail.

Police believe witnesses may have key information that can help advance the investigation.
