Police lay charges in robbery
The Calgary Police Service has charged a man after tips helped identify a suspect in a robbery that occurred on public transit.
At approximately 8:10 p.m., on Monday, June 5, 2017, a passenger riding the CTrain had his smart phone knocked out of his hands by another man on the train. The man then hit the victim and threatened him before grabbing the dropped phone and exiting the train at the Calgary Zoo station.
Police asked for the public to help identify the man and received several tips on the man’s possible identity, including one from the Strathmore RCMP. These tips helped investigators identify and locate a suspect, who was already in custody on another matter.
Farron MANY SHOTS, 39, of Siksika, Alberta, is now charged with one count of robbery. He remains in custody.
The Calgary Police Service would like to thank the RCMP, Calgary Transit, the media and public for their assistance with identifying a suspect in this case. The investigation could not have succeeded without the information received after CCTV footage of this incident was released.
