Police investigate serious motorcycle collision
Police remain on scene as we continue to investigate a serious-injury collision involving a motorcycle and an SUV that has left one man injured.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., today, Friday, Sept. 6, 2024, police were called for reports of a collision near the 2600 block of northbound Deerfoot Trail S.E. Upon arrival, it is believed a motorcycle, driven by a man in his 20s, was travelling northbound on Deerfoot Trail near Peigan Trail S.E., and collided with the rear of the SUV.
The rider was transported to hospital in serious but stable condition. The driver and sole occupant of the SUV was uninjured.
Alcohol or drugs are not believed to be factors in this collision, however, speed is being investigated as a possible factor in this collision.
As a result, northbound Deerfoot Trail remains closed between Peigan Trail S.E. and 17 Avenue S.E.
Our Traffic Unit continues to investigate the circumstances that led to the collision. No further information is available at this time.
