Police investigate serious-injury motorcycle collision in city's northwest

Earlier today, our Traffic Section responded to a collision in the northwest community of Bowness that has left a man critically injured.

Today, Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, at approximately 10:40 a.m., a Honda motorcycle operated by a man in his 40s, was travelling south on 34 Avenue N.W., approaching 77 Street N.W., when it is believed the rider struck a concrete traffic island barrier at a high rate of speed.

As a result, the rider was dismounted from the motorcycle, striking a stop sign and a concrete pole before striking a parked 2014 Jeep Patriot. The motorcycle struck a parked 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt before coming to a rest on the roadway.

Neither of the parked vehicles were occupied at the time of the incident.

The rider was transported to hospital with serious injuries and remains in critical condition.

Speed and alcohol on the part of the rider are being investigated as possible factors in this collision.

The intersection of 34 Avenue N.W. and 77 Street N.W. was closed for several hours while police investigated but has since re-opened.
