Police investigate fatal collision in the city’s southeast

We continue to investigate a collision that occurred last night and resulted in the death of a woman.

On Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, at approximately 8:15 p.m., a collision occurred at the intersection of 50 Avenue S.E. and 22 Street S.E.

At the time, a black GMC Sierra, operated by a 38-year-old man, was travelling eastbound on 50 Avenue S.E. in the right lane, approaching 22 Street S.E. 

Upon entering the intersection, the GMC struck a 57-year-old woman as she was walking across the street. The woman was transported to hospital, however, she succumbed to her injuries a short time later.

The driver of the GMC remained on scene and was uninjured.

Speed or impairment are not believed to be factors in this collision.
