Police investigate early morning CTrain collision

We continue to investigate a collision involving a CTrain and a pedestrian that took place this morning on the inbound tracks of Franklin station, leaving one man in critical condition.

At approximately 4:20 a.m., today, Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023, a CTrain was travelling west approaching the Franklin station located at 2826 Memorial Drive S.E.

At the same time, it is believed a pedestrian was walking east along the inbound tracks when he was struck by the CTrain.

The driver was able to bring the train to a stop at the Franklin station platform.

The man sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital in critical condition. Police are working to identify the man.

The CTrain driver and passengers were not injured during the incident and excessive speed was not considered a factor in this collision

Drug use on the part of the pedestrian is considered to be a factor in this collision.
