Police continue to seek information in fatal incident involving pedestrian

We are once again asking for the public’s help in gathering information related to a fatal incident that occurred earlier this year on Deerfoot Trail S.E.

At approximately 6:35 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023, a female pedestrian was located on the ground in the northbound lanes of Deerfoot Trail between Peigan Trail and 17 Avenue S.E., and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

It is believed she was struck by one or more vehicles. At least one vehicle believed to have struck the pedestrian did not remain on scene, and would have sustained front-end damage as a result of hitting the pedestrian.

Investigators are still looking to speak to anyone they have not yet spoken to who might have information regarding the vehicles involved, or anyone who has dashcam footage from the time of the incident.

“We are asking for anyone with information to come forward to police,” says Sergeant Colin Foster of the Calgary Police Service Traffic Section. “Any detail, no matter how big or small, could be vital to furthering our investigation and ultimately providing answers to the victim’s family.”

The Calgary Police Traffic Section continues to investigate this incident and anyone with information is asked to contact police by calling 403-266-1234. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers through any of the following methods:
