Police seek information in fatal incident involving pedestrian

We continue to investigate a fatal incident that occurred yesterday evening on northbound Deerfoot Trail, between Peigan Trail and 17 Avenue S.E., and are seeking public assistance in gathering information to further our investigation.

At approximately 6:35 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023, a female pedestrian was located on the ground in the northbound lanes of Deerfoot Trail, and it is believed she was struck by one or more vehicles. 

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

At least one vehicle believed to have struck the pedestrian did not remain on scene, and would have sustained damage to the front end as a result of hitting the pedestrian. We are looking to speak to all drivers and witnesses involved in this incident.

Anyone with information regarding the vehicles involved, including those with dashcam footage from the time of the incident, are asked to contact police.
