Police continue to investigate traffic fatality
Our Traffic Unit is investigating a single-vehicle collision that occurred earlier this morning, where one person was located deceased near the vehicle.
In the early morning hours of today, Monday, July 15, 2024, a collision occurred in the area of Buffalo Run Boulevard S.W., at the interchange with Anderson Road S.W.
It is believed a 2008 grey Nissan Altima, driven by a 78-year-old man, was travelling west on Anderson Road S.W., when the man failed to negotiate the southward bend in the roadway leading on to Buffalo Run Boulevard S.W.
The Nissan continued westward, leaving the roadway and struck a retaining wall, which is part of the bridge deck structure of Tsuut'ina Trail S.W. The vehicle rolled over several times before coming to a rest.
Upon police arrival, the man was located outside of the vehicle and pronounced deceased on-scene.
Neither impairment nor speed are considered to be a factor in this collision, and the Traffic Unit continues to investigate the circumstances that led to the collision.
