Police arrest man wanted on warrant for sexual assault and lay additional charge

Police have located a man wanted on warrant for sexually assaulting a woman at a social-sector agency and have laid an additional charge related to another case.

Papi MUYEMBI CHIYOMBO, 40, has been arrested and charged with one count of sexual assault in relation to an incident that occurred at a downtown social-sector agency on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2022, in Calgary. He was arrested by the Edmonton Police Service on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023.

MUYEMBI CHIYOMBO also faces an additional charge of one count of sexual assault for sexually touching a woman without consent in a separate incident that occurred in Calgary near City Hall on Monday, Sept. 5, 2022.

He will next appear in court in Calgary on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023.
