Pedestrian dies following Nov. 10 collision

A pedestrian has died as a result of injuries sustained from being struck by a vehicle on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016.

The collision occurred at approximately 6 a.m. in the intersection of 4 Street and Memorial Drive N.E. A 2006 Pontiac G6, driven by a 38-year-old man, was traveling westbound on Memorial Drive approaching 4 Street N.E. The Pontiac was proceeding through the intersection on a green light when a 54-year-old male pedestrian ran across Memorial Drive southbound, into the path of the car.

The pedestrian was struck and sustained what were believed to be serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. On Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries.

Following an investigation by the Calgary Police Service Traffic Section, it has been determined that neither alcohol nor speed are considered to be factors in the collision. The driver of the vehicle will not be charged in relation to this collision.
