Officer-involved shooting: Update

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred this morning in the northwest community of Dalhousie.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., today, Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2025, we were called for reports of a man with a knife acting aggressively towards a peace officer in the Dalhousie LRT Station parking lot.

Police officers located the man and an altercation occurred, resulting in one Calgary Police Service (CPS) member discharging their Service firearm and striking the man.

The man was transported to hospital where he remains in serious but stable condition. 

The Dalhousie LRT station has been shut down as officers continue their investigation.

No CPS officers or other members of the public were injured, and there is no risk to the public at this time.

As is standard practice with any officer-involved shooting, ASIRT has been called in to investigate. No further details are available at this time.
